Ireland - Golf

Challenging championship courses designed by top architects and set in stunning scenery make Ireland one of the world's best golfing destinations. From lush parklands to windy coastal dunes, Ireland is unbeatable in terms of quality golfing options. Clubs such as the Old Head of Kinsale in Cork, Ballybunion in Kerry and Doonbeg in County Clare offer thrilling and dramatic vistas.

Ireland has plenty of luxurious resorts, such as Adare Manor, Dromoland Castle and the K Club – host of the Ryder Cup 2006. With legendary hospitality, fascinating sightseeing opportunities and gourmet pubs and restaurants, any golfing break in Ireland will be memorable.

Ireland is renowned for links courses such as the Portmarnock, Ballybunion, Doonbeg and European, but visitors will also be wowed by its exceptional championship parkland courses, which have lush fairways and challenging greens. Some of the best parkland courses are near major cities.

The country also has plenty of hidden gems. Visitors should try Coollattin in the Wicklow Mountains, Cruit Island in Donegal and Ardglass in County Down. Ardglass Golf Course has a dramatic layout with a rugged feel. Several of its tees and greens overlook the ocean, the par three second is a favourite of many players. People wanting to enjoy a quiet game can head off the beaten track and explore some of the lesser-known courses. Founded in 1903, Kenmare Golf Club is an 18-hole course suitable for all levels. Early holes stretch along the Roughty River Estuary, and the rest of the course provides breathtaking panoramic views over Kenmare Bay and the Roughty Valley. The course is always in top condition.

Killerig Golf Club opened in 2001 and quickly earned a reputation for having some of the best greens in Ireland. The course is nestled in the Killeshin Hills and is surrounded by stunning scenery. The gently sloping landscape offers a challenge to golfers looking for the ultimate test of skill.

For those looking to experience Ireland while on a golfing holiday, we offer vacation properties at a reasonable price. So whatever type of property you are looking for we have accommodation to suit your taste and budget.
